EpiCenter adds Comparison Feature to Descriptive Analysis

EpiCenter users now have the opportunity to compare current data with historical data to gain a clearer perspective on potential threats to public health.

The new functionality is accessible through EpiCenter’s Descriptive Analysis feature. Users may find the comparison particularly helpful when looking at this year’s lighter-than-usual flu season in comparison to previous years.

Descriptive analysis was originally a user suggestion by HMS client Ben DeJesus of the Franklin County Health Department.  Since that time, it has proven to be an important feature in aiding users to understand who is affected by an event.

By extending this feature to compare previous current data with historical data, users gain valuable insights into unique situations that result in Emergency Room visits. These situations may include traumatic illness and enteric disease during the summer months.
